Q: What is Rich Media?
A: Rich media refers to elements on a web page (or in a separate player) which change over time or in response to user interaction.
Examples:
- A streaming video newscast.
- A map with audio descriptions of historic locations which are activated by mouse rollover.
- A stock ticker on a news web site.
- A intranet-based training video played in the QuickTime player.
- An animated Flash presentation embedded in a web page.
- An image slideshow playing on a Palm handheld.
Q: Why can't I see captions for a video clip? I know the video is captioned.
A: Rich media players typically have menu items that allow captions and other accessibility features to be turned on or off. Read our help section for turning accessibility features on.
