Windows Media Player:

The Windows Media Player allows the user to turn captions on or off using the 'Captions' option in the View menu on Macintosh OSX or within the 'Captions and Subtitles' option in the 'View' menu on Windows versions of the player.

Users can also change the language for movies.
The 'Default Language Settings' dialog on Windows XP allows the user to set preferred languages for captions/subtitles and for the program audio. This preference setting is persistent and dependent on the content being delivered with audio or captions that match the setting. Otherwise, the default language will be used.
The 'Language' option in the 'View' menu on Macintosh OSX (called 'Audio and Language Tracks' in Windows) allows users to set the language just for the movie being played. This menu option will list all available languages for a movie.
