D. Review captions or subtitles
After formatting and timing the text, you can review the captions or subtitles
along with the media file from within MAGpie, making corrections to text and
timing as necessary.
D1. Position the cursor anywhere in the first row of the editing grid, then
press <F6>. MAGpie will automatically play the media and display captions or
subtitles at the appropriate intervals.
D2. To make corrections or changes to the caption text, press <F5> to pause
the media, make the changes in the editor, press <F4> to synchronize the player
to the corresponding point in the stream and press <F6> to play the media with
the corrected text. If you need to make changes to the timecode, you can
either press <F9> at the appropriate time while the media is rolling, or you can
pause the media by pressing <F5> and then press <F9> to insert the new timecode.
If you want to type in timecode corrections by hand, see Section I Part C .
By default, MAGpie will display any existing captions or subtitles when you
play the media. If you find it confusing to see the captions or subtitles playing
while you are retiming them, you can temporarily toggle them off by choosing
PLAYER, Show Captions, or by unchecking the Captions box at the top of the
player window. Be sure to recheck the Captions box or choose PLAYER, Show Captions
again to display the captions or subtitles after you are finished retiming.
D3. If your project contains multiple streams, you can review each one in
turn by first selecting the appropriate stream and then repeating steps D1 and D2.
Note: When you press F6 to play the media and display your captions or
subtitles, MAGpie will automatically check the timing of the stream to make sure the
timecodes are sequential. If it finds timing errors, it will flag them for
you. You must fix the errors before you can display the text. If you do not
assign a timecode to a particular block of text, MAGpie will just ignore that
caption or subtitle and not display it when you are playing the media file.
