C. Review Audio Descriptions
Once you have timed the audio description sound files in MAGpie, you can
review them by simulating where they will appear in the presentation, and change
their timing as necessary.
The process for reviewing audio descriptions is similar to that for captions
or subtitles. Instead of captions, though, you will see the audio-description
transcription displayed with the media clip. Remember that these "description
captions" will not be visible in the final output. They are visible in MAGpie
only as a visual indicator of where the audio clips will play.
C1. Position the cursor anywhere in the first row of the editing grid, then
press <F6>. MAGpie will automatically play the media and display the
description transcriptions at the appropriate intervals.
C2. To make corrections to the timing, press <F5> to pause the media clip.
Move the media to the appropriate place in the timeline. Press <F9> while the
media is not moving to insert the new timecode; you can also play the media and
press <F9> to insert the new timecode when appropriate.
Since the timecode also appears visually at the bottom of the media window,
you can make timecode adjustments by hand. Simply delete the appropriate numbers
and type in the new ones. Be sure to follow the timing convention HH:MM:SS.FF
(hours:minutes:seconds.frames), paying attention to the use of two colons and
one period in the timecode notation.
Note: When you press F6 to play the media and display your transcription,
MAGpie will automatically check the timing of the stream to make sure the
timecodes are sequential. If it finds timing errors, it will flag them for you. You
must fix the errors before you can display the text. If you do not assign a
timecode to a particular block of text, MAGpie will just ignore that text and not
display it when you are playing the media file.
